The Power of a Bold, Deliberate Decision

People often ask me “Scotty, what does it take to be successful?”

What does it take to create a seven-figure income?

To live in a multimillion-dollar home?

To have a big portfolio?

To have a successful marriage?

To have a beautiful family?

To have great health?

What does it take to do all those things?

My answer –

Your ability to make bold, deliberate decisions.

Every type of success, in any area of your life, starts with a REAL DECISION to be successful.

Without first deciding to change, nothing will change.

You can hope for things to change.

You can wish for things to change.

You can want things to change.

You can even plan the change to happen – having a goal, having a vision, having a dream, planning and scheduling. In fact, I teach all that stuff!

But nothing will happen until you make a REAL decision.

All the big changes in my life, in my income, my body, my intimate relationships, my parenting, my business have only ever come about AFTER I’ve made real, honest, genuine gut decisions.

A decision to say – “That’s it! No more!”

A decision to say – “I’m drawing a line in the sand!”

A decision to say – “That’s it! I’m burning the boats!”

These bold, deliberate decisions allowed me to really step into the greatness that I dare dream to have.

Is there a part of your life that you want to be different?

Maybe you want to have more health and fitness, more income, more wealth, more joy and passion in your relationship…or all of those things?!

Then you need to ask yourself honestly –

‘What are the real decisions I need to make in my life to see those changes happen?”

Is there some stuff you need to draw the line on and put a hard foot down to say –

“That’s it. No more. Done. Not doing that!” or “That’s it. Done. I’m doing this!”

And if there were, I would encourage you, and if I can be so bold, coach you, on making that real decision.

How to know you’ve made a REAL decision (the LIFE-CHANGING type)

Not all decisions are created equal, so how do you know when you’ve made a real decision – the kind that is going to change your life?

Easy – you compare it to a time when you haven’t!

Confession; there have been times in my life where I’ve taken a long time to move forward on things.

I’d procrastinate on things – it took me a long time to leave a relationship or get out of the business I was in.

Those things only changed and my life transformed when I made a decision from the heart, a decision from my gut that said-

“That’s it! I’m drawing a line in the sand.”

Sometimes it’s pain inspiring a decision; it’s fuelled by frustration, angst or anger – you want to move away from something.

Other times it’s passion that drives a decision. The vision and excitement you feel about what you could be moving towards – more joy, more choices, more freedom in your life.

What’s driving your decision?

Are you moving away from something or towards something?

What REAL decision do you need to make today?

That’s my question for you.

What real decision you have to make RIGHT NOW?

Maybe you’ve made it before but you haven’t committed. It wasn’t made from your gut, there wasn’t a burning intensity inside you to DO THIS THING.

I want you to get this. You HAVE to feel that decision deep down inside for real change to happen.

A strategy, plan and goals are important but before any of that, before you map out your plan, or take action, or put that vision board up you’ve got to make a real decision first.

Are you in? Are you committed? Is this who you are?

If it is, the rest of the game becomes very, very easy.

If you’re bold and daring, I encourage you to do TWO things RIGHT NOW:

Number 1: I’d love you to post your decision right here in the comments.

Shout it out loud, from the rooftops, in capital letters if you like and say;

 “I’m deciding this…”

If you do that, I’d love to know how I might be able to help or support you in carrying out your decision.

Whether it’s a bold decision about your health, your income, your wealth, your relationships, your parenting, whatever it may be!

Number 2: Share this blog with anyone you think could benefit from making a bold decision to change something in their lives.

Encourage them to take the first step – that REAL decision – towards creating the life they were born to live!

We all need to keep making bigger and bolder decisions; and then, get some coaching, get some great mentoring and take some action in a talented and thoughtful way.

I wish you an awesome and spectacular unfoldment of your bold decision!

This Is B.S.

“This is absolute BS!”

I have said that phrase out loud. I’ve said it to myself. I’ve said it to other people, I’ve even said it to my children.

But this BS is not what you’re thinking…

After teaching, studying and learning for more than 30 years, I’m telling you, every single one of us has this story about BS that is getting in the way of manifesting whatever you want.

It gets in the way of manifesting the body you want, manifesting the relationships you want, manifesting the wealth and the business you want, manifesting the fun and the joy you want.

So what IS this BS….if it’s not what you’re thinking it is!?

B.S. = Belief Systems.

It’s your belief systems that keep you stuck and get in the way of allowing you to create and manifest the life you want!

There’s great news

There’s no question that our belief systems impact the physical results we create in our life.

Our beliefs about our body; is it too young or too old? What can we do to lose weight, gain muscle, be flexible, and feel good?

Our belief systems about our personal relationships with spouses, children, best friends, clients, and customers.

Our belief systems about finances, about what we can earn or charge, what we’re worth, or how much we can grow our business.

Our belief systems run the show

Those belief systems impact our lives WAY MORE significantly than any outside factors; the economy, your clients, your spouse, your children, neighbours or the president!

Trust me, your belief systems are way more important than these external things.

Your belief systems also impact how you feel; they impact your emotions.

Are you actually enjoying the experience of being on the journey to where you want to go?

You know, most high achievers I meet are rarely experiencing joy, gratitude, and happiness on a consistent basis.

They’re generally feeling stressed and overwhelmed and challenged in some way shape or form.

You can change your BS!

The best part about our BS? It’s the easiest thing to change!

You can get rid of your old BS about what you’re worth or what you can charge. Your BS about what your body can do at 50, or 60 or 70! Your BS about a relationship that you think just can’t be rebuilt.

Yep! There’s no BS you can’t change!

And changing your BS will change your life.

If you’d read any of the books that I’ve read or been to any of the seminars I’ve been to in the personal development world, you’d know everybody says that 80% of success is psychology.

What that means is 80% of success comes down to our BS….our belief system.

I’m a coach and I’m all about getting results and I want to put this coaching challenge to you today.

Ask yourself; what BS do you have right now that needs to be changed?

Write out or type out your current BS and what it needs to be instead.

This is the starting point to put yourself back in control; recognising that BS that needs to change so then you can begin to work on changing it.

I look forward to serving you with more content teaching about how to make that real for you!

Healthy + Wealthy Are The Same Thing

Are you healthy and want to make money?

I’ve got good news my friend; it’s easy!

There’s equally great news if you’re doing well financially right now, but you want to be healthier, – that’s easy too.

I’ll tell you why it’s easy; because making money and being healthy are exactly the same thing.

When I understood this it was an incredibly profound breakthrough.

If you’re struggling with either your health or your wealth, I believe this will be profoundly impactful for you to my friend.

The Health Recipe

Most of us want to be healthier, fitter, stronger, all those beautiful things and when you take care of your physical body, there are a few things you’re going to need – the first is you need some sort of strategy to get healthy. A plan of attack!

Are you gonna go paleo?  Are you doing stuff in the gym? Are you doing your hot yoga?

Are you going to do any one of the different diets and food lifestyle choices that work?

So first, you need a strategy to get your health on track.

Then, you’ll probably need to buy some stuff to make this health goal happen too –  some equipment and workout gear. Maybe you’ll need to get a gym membership and something to prep your meals in like a blender, and a steamer for all that healthy veg .

Then comes repetition.

You can’t just go to the gym once. You can’t just eat broccoli one time. You gotta kind of do it over, and over, and over again.

So that’s kind of the recipe for being healthy, which is pretty simple, right?

Strategy – Stuff – Repetition

The Wealth Recipe

Now, if you think about making money and wealth, specifically income, there’s a recipe too. This recipe, my friend looks A LOT like the strategy for creating physical health.

Firstly, you’re gonna need a strategy.

What business vehicle are you using? What investment strategy are you using? Are you using property, stock, shares, stuff online, a traditional business?

Like strategies for your fitness goals, there are lots of them for wealth creation and income too.

You can make money in traditional businesses. You can make money online. You can make money by selling a service or a product.

Then comes the stuff; you’re gonna need some equipment. You’re gonna need some technology. Depending on your strategy you might need a store, some products, or a service.

The next part of the recipe is repetition.

You can’t just have one sale or run one marketing campaign. You can’t just do one sales call, there’s got to be repetition.

I was doing great in one of these categories – my health – and not great in another – my wealth.

Then I realised….

Holy smokes, every single book I’d ever read in my entire life on wealth creation said the same thing!

That success in wealth creation is 80% what’s going on your mind. It’s 80% psychology.

In fact, the wealthiest people I’ve met, they’d say it’s actually more like 90 – 95%!

This was my breakthrough.

I realised the reason I was doing great in my health and not great in my wealth, it wasn’t because I didn’t have the right strategy, or the right equipment, or the right repetitions, it was because I didn’t yet have the right psychology.

You could say the right psychology is the final ingredient (but actually the most important) for successful health and wealth creation.

So here’s my coaching for you right now –  if you’re doing great in one of those areas right now, and not in the other, go grab a pen and paper and write down the category you’re doing great at.

Let’s say it’s health. Now I want you to write down 4 or 5 things that you feel when you are working on your health and fitness goals.

Why is it important to you? What’s motivating you to haul your butt out of bed at 5:00 AM and get to the gym.

Or, let’s say you’re crushing your wealth goals.

You’re obsessed with business and it’s going gangbusters…but you’re health? Well, you’re getting a little thick around the middle, not really taking care of your energy and drinking way too many Red Bulls and coffee.

So do the same thing, ask yourself;

What is it about my business and money that I’m passionate about?

What do I feel when I’m working on my business – what excites me and drives me to do it? Who I serve, growth, the fact that it’s challenging me?

Write down those 4 or 5 reasons you love working on your business.

Transference

Now it’s time to do a bit of transference.

You want to ask yourself how you can take your existing story, the existing psychology around this thing that you love that is clearly working for you, and transfer it to this thing you, currently, are not yet in love with?

When I think about health and wealth, they’re literally exactly the same.

While I’m building my health and my wealth, doing the activities, doing strategies, I’m doing the work for exactly the same reasons.

Being healthy and wealthy both serve my mission and meet my values. Both allow me to express who I am and serve the greater good.

I get to be a child of the universe, and I get to have a lot of fun doing both of these things; health and wealth are both exactly the same for me.

There are plenty of strategies to chose from to create health and wealth, there are plenty of tools you can invest in and of course the repetition, well that’s easy to do if you know WHY you’re doing it.

The power right now is for you to realise that if you’re already good at one thing, you can be good at something else. If you’re doing great over here, you could be amazing over there. It’s all about transferring your story, your psychology from the thing you are winning at to the thing you want to win at.

That was certainly my journey and I hope this insight can serve you too.

I’d love to hear from you in the comments what health and wealth mean for you and if you’ve had any breakthroughs from this conversation?

Or perhaps you’re struggling with both of those areas, maybe put your hand up and ask for help and one of my team can reach out and connect with you and serve you in some way, shape, or form.

I’m Too Busy!

I’m too busy!

I got so much to do. I’m overwhelmed. I can’t do everything!

Ok, stop right there my friend.

As a coach and a mentor, I’ve heard these phrases so many times.

“Scotty I’m too busy, I can’t get it all done! What do I do? How do I make choices?”

If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, you’re not alone.

So many successful, high achieving people are feeling stressed about their time and about how they can get everything done. I was one of them!

Today I’m sharing 3 simple tips with you that can have a huge impact on how much you get done, how much you achieve, and how you feel while you’re doing it.

But before we get to the tips; I’ve got good news and bad news.

I’m going to go with the bad news first….and you’re not going to like it.

The bad news is this –

My belief after doing this for 30 years around the world with literally hundreds of thousands of people is that you simply can’t do everything.

Now you’re like, “Whoa, what? I thought you were gonna help me get it all done!?”

Nope. My friend, it’s not humanly possible to read every book on the planet, do every workout at the gym and be friends with everyone and achieve every single thing you want to do.

Sometimes I meet people on this personal development journey and they’re trying to do 47 things at once. But the truth is, you can’t do everything.

Now, for the good news.

It’s something I’ve discovered after travelling the world 25 times and it is that you literally can do anything.

I mean you can do anything.

You’ve probably already done some amazing and extraordinary things in your life, so you know you can do anything. You just can’t do everything right now at one time.

Now you might be thinking, “Well great, Scotty, but what does that mean to me? How do I stop being so stressed, so busy and so overwhelmed right now?”

Here are those 3 simple tips I promised to help you feel better and get more done. You can start using them straight away!

Tip #1 – Really understand that time is your most important resource

One of the myths people live with is thinking that as they become more successful, get older or make more money, that there’s going to be more time.

> When I get a personal assistant

> When I get a bigger team

> When the kids leave for high school or university

They think when those things happen, there will be more time.

But there won’t be.

There are 168 hours in a week and 52 weeks in a year. 168 x 52 = 8736 hours a year.

That’s what we get.

So my first tip, my coaching for you is, do you really appreciate and respect the time you have right now?

If you really did think of time as one of your most important resources, right up there with oxygen and water, how precious would you treat it?

How vigilant and diligent would you be with where you allocate it and what you do with it?

I’m not saying you should be working 24/7. I like a midday nap along with the best Europeans!

What I’m saying is, if you believe time is genuinely one of your most important resources (and it is!) how would you treat it? How would you respect it? How would you systematise it? How would you prioritise it?

Really start to appreciate there will never be more time and maybe start treating it differently, with more respect, not just frittering it away.

Tip #2 – Do Less

This tip sounds counterintuitive, right? My coaching for you is I want you to do less, not more.

“What are you talking about Scotty? I came here because I’m overwhelmed – I need to get more done!”

Here’s what I mean by doing less.

Unless you’re the president, or the Dalai Lama I’m telling you respectfully right now, you don’t have 57 things every day to do that are vitally important.

You just don’t.

If you focus on five to seven key decisions, key actions and key results every day, I’m telling you, you’d end the day with a very different sense of fulfilment and achievement having focused on those five to seven things and not the 52.

Doing less means really focusing in on those key five to seven things – not the 52 things that you think are important.

Tip #3 – Get a system to prioritise decision making

You can’t do everything but you can do anything. What you need is a system for making decisions, a system for making choices between important  goals / outcomes to decide which one to go after.

So what is your system? Your system is based on your core values.

What are the MOST important things to you?

You might say the things you value the most are Health, Family, Travel, Education and God.

So there’s your system for how to make choices and prioritise how you spend your time.

Or maybe your most important values are Cleanliness, Order, Work and Contribution.

Great! Make a decision about what really is a priority for today based on those values. Using a system will quickly reduce those 52 ‘important’ things on your list to 5 -7 real priorities.

There you have it, my three quick coaching tips on how to get out of overwhelm and get off the wheel of being busy.

Has this been valuable to you? I’d love to hear more about how you plan to implement these tips in your life. Leave me a comment below!

I Have A Dirty Mind

I had a very, very dirty mind.

That’s right.

And if you’re reading this, you’ve probably got a dirty mind as well.

Let me back up a little and explain what I mean by this!

I’ve had the unique privilege of working with and learning from some of the world’s greatest teachers and I want to share with you a quick story and give you some coaching today on what changed the whole game for me around wealth creation.

This is what took me from a kid who was asked to leave high school to someone who could create a multi-million dollar income, pretty easily, working from home!

I remember exactly when this journey started.

I was backstage at a seminar and I had somebody that you would know, a man named Tony Robbins say something to me that I’d heard before.

He said to me,

“Scotty, you know, money is made in the mind.”

I was like WOW, I’d heard that before!

I still get goosebumps when I share this story because it was a transformational moment for me.

The reason it was such a WOW moment for me was that only a short time before, Sir Richard Branson, who I’ve been blessed to meet a number of times with and go on holidays with his family and so forth, said to me the same thing.

“You know, Scotty, money is made in the mind.”

And before that a man named Robert Kiyosaki, who wrote that incredible book and the whole series called “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” who again, I’m lucky enough to have met a number of times and worked with, told me the same thing.

I’d seen the pattern here! These incredibly rich successful people all had a belief that money was made in the mind.

I can tell you, the third time I heard it I was excited because I was like;

That’s great news because I’ve got a mind!

But, there must be some bad news because….. I don’t have any money!

I wasn’t making a lot of money at that stage in my life and it was then I realised the reason I didn’t have a lot of money was not because I didn’t have the right strategy or the right vehicle.

I wasn’t making money because I had a dirty mind.

Me and my dirty money mind

I had a dirty mind around this thing called money because I’d learned from my well-meaning dads (and I had three of them before I was 10) that what you’re supposed to do is get a good education, get a good job, and go work hard!

So I did all those things and then I went and got my own business and worked even harder!

But I still wasn’t financially successful.

What nobody ever taught me was that I needed to create a different story around this thing called money.

What I was supposed to do was create a new mindset around wealth creation, what it means to me, how it serves me and how it’s a spiritual guide.

So, I’m here to coach you and say if you’re not making the money you want to be making right now, you might have some strategic challenges. You might need some support on that; on your marketing, on your sales, on your content, on your product creation, sure.

But I’m telling you, from my experience, and from the thousands of people I’ve coached on this, the place to start is looking to see if you have a dirty mind like I did.

Boy, was it was dirty! It was cluttered with old stories and old limiting beliefs.

I mean, think about it; you’ve heard that nonsense from your mum and dad or your grandparents at some point –

Money doesn’t grow on trees, you know!

Money is not that important!

We’re not made of money!

There’s things in life more important than money!

I heard all these things growing up, and it was sticking around inside me.

Have you ever heard that metaphor that you can’t pour new wine into an old bottle? You’ve got to clean the bottle out first.

It’s the same for your money mindset. You have to clear out the old beliefs and fill your mind with new ones for things to really start working for you.

You could be reading all the books you want about wealth creation and all the strategy books from all the great teachers today.

But If you haven’t cleaned out that bottle, if you haven’t gotten rid of that dirty mind, you’re going to be in big trouble.

So, here’s my coaching for you right now;

How Cleaning Up Made Me Wealthy

You read that heading right, my friend.

Cleaning up made me wealthy and if you want to create more income, wealth and grow your business (I’m guessing you do because you’re here!) cleaning up can help you too.

I want to share with you the lesson I learned that, if you commit to doing the work, can be incredibly powerful and liberating on your journey and the wealth and income goals that you’re chasing.

I can remember when I first started on this journey of consciousness this journey of awakeness to really building my wealth, I realised this truth:

If it’s going to be, it’s up to me.

Personal wealth creation is my responsibility. It’s not the school’s responsibility or the economy’s responsibility or my boss’s responsibility it’s my responsibility.

So I started you know reading books and doing courses and trying things out in business, I realised through some coaching and mentoring that I had this thing called a dirty mind and I had some cleaning up to do.

Do you have a dirty mind?

Let me explain what I mean by a dirty mind.

Two of the toughest emotions in the world to experience are guilt and shame

You may have never felt these things ’cause you may be extraordinary and amazing but I can tell you  my friend when I looked back at my life at that point there were some things that I felt bad about.

There were times I knew I hadn’t done a good job.

Times I knew I’d acted with less than my best integrity.

Times I knew I’d let myself down.

And as a consequence of feeling bad about these times in my life, I felt some incredible shame.

The more I learn about psychology and personal development, the more I understand that if  you feel bad, guilty or ashamed (embarrassed might be a word you’re more comfortable with) about a situation in the past, that stuff has got to be cleaned up.

That stuff becomes like a big huge heavy ball that just gets bigger and bigger. It holds you down….it makes parts of your mind a dirty place.

Look back at what is causing those feelings about those times to figure out if it is a false belief  – a false belief about something that may have happened or should have happened or didn’t happen or a real belief.

A real belief because something did happen. You really did steal that candy or borrow money and not pay it back or return something you used in less than good condition.

So here’s what I did. I looked back at my life for anything all the way back as far as I could remember where there was any hook or any attachment to the feeling of guilt and shame.

“Oh I remember that guy and I borrowed his trailer and I didn’t return it properly.”

or “I remember that time my brother lent me some money, I forgot to pay it back and somebody had to pay it back for me.”

I listed all those things down at what we would call an arm’s length – I wasn’t attached to them.

Making a list like this might be something you want to start doing for yourself right now.

I looked at my list and, here’s the important bit, this is where the coaching comes in right now my friend, I realised what I need to do is go clean up.

I needed to go back and clean up those past events.

Was there a phone call I could make? Was there a certain retribution I could make? Was there some money I could pay back? In some cases, was there just an apology I could do?

In a couple of cases in my life it wasn’t possible to go back and clean it up with the person or the business. Instead, I decided instead to write a letter to myself and to that person; do a little prayer, a little blessing and move it on.

The work isn’t fun, but it’s worth it

Now, I’m telling you there’s a part of you that’s not gonna like this process – because it requires some work.

The work was not fun.

It’s not fun calling somebody and apologising for something that happened three, five, ten, twenty years ago. It’s not fun recognising that you made some mistakes somewhere and you felt bad about it and you wanna go clean it up.

It’s embarrassing and it’s awkward.

But I will tell you it’s unbelievably empowering. Every time I cleaned something up, every time I return some money, every time I made a donation or a contribution to somebody in their name ’cause it’s something I didn’t do back then, it allowed me to grow.

I’m telling you, this process allowed me to grow and grow until I felt like I was ten feet tall.

Ok, so maybe this message might not be appropriate for all of you because not everyone has something to clean up. But for those of you who have – and you know when you have –  I promise you cleaning up your dirty mind is worth it.

If there’s any moment in your past where you, I don’t know, stole a bag of lollies from a store, took twenty bucks from your mum’s purse or borrowed someone’s car, dented it and didn’t tell them, make a list.

Then go find some ways to clean it up and in some way shape or form, unhook and unhinge yourself from your attachment to that story.

As weird as it might sound, this process will help you create more wealth. It’s not a list-building strategy, a sales strategy, a marketing strategy or a marketing strategy but this will free you up.

It will free you up emotionally, it will free you up spiritually, and more of you will turn up and if more of you turned up in your business I guarantee that’ll make you richer.

That’s how cleaning up and doing the work made me richer.

If this message resonates with you and you’ve got some stuff you want to express publically, go ahead and express it publically here.

Be bold, be daring, be brave.

If you need some help, you’re not quite sure how to clean it up because it’s a long time ago or the person’s moved away or can’t find them, let me know and I and my team will be delighted to help you.

Clean up your old stuff so you can create the wealth that you deserve!

How Do I Know If I Need Coaching?

Myth ONE

Coaching or mentoring is for people who are broken…

It’s for people who have got big problems or it’s for people who need fixing… ANSWER IS = NO.

My belief is nobody needs fixing and nobody is broken, We all might have some challenges to work on but thats life!

So, to be clear, coaching is not about, I’ve got this big wound that needs healing. Coaching is not about, it’s only for those people who are somehow the downtrodden, and the somehow less-successful. That’s a complete and total myth.

Coaching is simply for EVERYONE!

Myth TWO

On the flip side there is a common misconception that elite performers or high-achieving people, high executives, owners, CEOs, and Olympic athletes, they’re the ones that need coaching….

“They need coaching, not me. I’m just a regular person.”

Wrong again my friends, Coaching is simply for EVERYONE!

Here’s the TRUTH

The reality is, my friends, here’s who coaching is for; coaching is for every single person who is just like you and I.

Coaching is for anybody who wants to make any movement forward in their life.

If you’re looking to change your health, if you’re looking to change your personal relationships with your spouse, your children, your siblings, your best friends, if you’re looking to move forward financially in your business, in your income, and your savings, and your wealth, and your growth, if you’re looking to develop any new skills and tools, get yourself a coach, get an expert, get a mentor, get a guru, get a support person.

My wisdom over the last 20 years in the coaching industry is, that is not going to come from a book, or a podcast, or sitting in a seminar listening to somebody. I think all three of those things are awesome things to do – I do all three of those things myself BUT I’d suggest to you that the hand-to-hand, belly-to-belly combat, the challenge of voice-to-voice, person-to-person, spirit-to-spirit, soul-to-soul, of actually working with somebody deeply and intimately, one-on-one, is the absolute single best way to move you forward.

Now, what does that mean? Who is coaching for? How do I know if I’m qualified? Very simply this; my belief is, coaching is for EVERYONE!

Hello, my friends, and welcome. Scott Harris, your Ultimate Coach, answering a very important question today, and that is, “How do I know if I need coaching? Who is coaching for? I get you, Scott Harris, you’re talking all the time about coaching this, and coaching that, and mentoring this, and mentoring that, and expert this. How do I know if I need coaching?” So I want to clear up a couple of myths for you first and then give you some clarity. The first myth that I sometimes get when I work with people all around the world is that they kind of think coaching, and mentoring, and support, they kind of think it’s for people who are broken. They kind of think it’s for people who have got big problems, and they kind of think it’s for people who need fixing.

Well, firstly, my belief is nobody needs fixing and nobody is broken. We all might have some challenges to work on, but ain’t nobody broken, ain’t nobody needs fixing. So, to be clear, coaching is not about, I’ve got this big wound that needs healing. Coaching is not about, it’s only for those people who are somehow the downtrodden, and the somehow less-successful. That’s a complete and total myth. The converse is almost true. The converse is true is that elite performers and high-achieving people, and high executives, and owners, and CEOs, and Olympic athletes, they’re the ones that need coaching.

So the second myth to get rid of is this story that says, “No, it’s high achievers that want coaching. It’s people who are CEOs, and owners, and directors, and Olympic athletes, and people how are making hundred of thousands or millions and millions of dollars. They need coaching, not me. I’m just a regular person.” The reality is, my friends, I’m telling you right now, here’s who coaching is for; coaching is for every single person who is just like you and I. Coaching is for anybody who wants to make any movement forward in their life.

If you’re looking to change your health, if you’re looking to change your personal relationships with your spouse, your children, your siblings, your best friends, if you’re looking to move forward financially in your business, in your income, and your savings, and your wealth, and your growth, if you’re looking to develop any new skills and tools, I’m telling you, my friends, get yourself a coach, get an expert, get a mentor, get a guru, get a support person.

My wisdom is, that is not necessarily going to come from a book, or a podcast, or sitting in a seminar listening to somebody. I think all three of those things are awesome things to do. I do all three of those things. I read books, and I listen to podcasts, and I participate in seminars, but I’d suggest to you that the hand-to-hand, belly-to-belly combat, the challenge of voice-to-voice, person-to-person, spirit-to-spirit, soul-to-soul, gut-to-gut of actually working with somebody deeply and intimately, one-on-one, is the absolute single best way to move you forward.

Now, what does that mean? Who is coaching for? How do I know if I’m qualified? Very simply this; my belief is, coaching is for everyone. Now, that means if you’ve got some challenges going on, I certainly, in my past, have had challenges going on, I still have challenges going on that I need support with, and feedback on, and insights on. If you’ve got some, maybe some past stuff that needs cleaning up, if you’re a high achiever and you’re working on some big, huge, enormous goal, maybe you’re both of those at once, as I have been and some of you probably are as well, and if you’re somewhere in between, trust me, the single defining element of whether you qualify to be ready for coaching right now and need coaching is one simple question; are you looking to get better in your life? Are you looking to move forward in any area or multiple areas of your life? If you are, my coaching for you is, go get yourself a great coach.

So, this has been Scott Harris, getting rid of and busting a couple of myths, and maybe sharing with you some simple clarity about how it is you know if you’re ready for coaching. Till you and I get to meet, face-to-face, I hope you live very deliberately. Until then, bye for now.

How To Get Better At Almost Anything You Want In Life

In life most of us have two main categories, you’ve got personal stuff going on, and you’ve got professional or business stuff going on.

If you want to get better at something… we all know that practice and more practice makes perfect… right?

BUT, Imagine if you had a professional or someone that has done it before guiding you and watching over or showing you things you may have not seen….

How quickly would you achieve results now?

As an example, for myself years ago, I wanted to be a faster runner. I knew that there was a certain ingredient missing to the puzzle when I just couldn’t better my running time.

So, I went and hired a coach and he taught me some skills and tools and drills that to this day, 30 years later, I still use when I go for a run. And no surprise, because I got a great running coach, I got better at running and I beat my running time!

In fact to this day I still have Coaches helping me in certain aspects of my life! YES, you read correct!

The most successful people in the world all have one thing in common my friends and that is, They all have a COACH!

So with that being disclosed, there is no secret Pill….. BUT there are Coaches available to you right now who can and will support and help you move forward into your desired direction!

Read The Full Transcript
Hello, my friends. Scott Harris, your Ultimate Coach stopping by to chat today about how to get better at almost anything you want in your life. And to be honest, I kind of want to call this video I don’t understand why everybody doesn’t get this. If you think about your life in kind of two categories, you got personal stuff going on, and you got professional or business stuff going on. Most of us who are watching this video right now, me included if I was watching it, we want to get better at stuff. And there’s a very simple, easy, and effective way, a way that you’ve been doing your whole life to get better at things, that I just wanted to remind you of, and it kind of looks like this.

You know, if you want to get better at something… Like years ago, years ago, a friend of mine said, “I want to get better at golf.” Now, I don’t play golf, but the first thing he did was said, “I want to get better at golf,” so he went out and practiced and practiced and practiced. And in the beginning, he got a little bit better, but after a while, his practice could only take him so far. He realised, “I don’t need to practice anymore. What I need is I need some lessons. What I need is an expert or a mentor standing next to me seeing some things that I can’t see, noticing some things that I can’t notice about my swing, and my stance, and my follow-through, and my head movement, and so forth. So he needed some lessons to get better at golf. And so he got a great coach, and got a great professional at the club, and he had some great lessons, and no surprise, his golf game improved markedly.

For myself, I remember years and years and years ago, I wanted to be a great runner. I liked to run sub three-hour marathons. Not now, but a long, long time ago. I used to run quick! But I know that there was a certain time where there was only so many kilometres or miles I could run each week and each month, and eventually, what I needed to do to get quicker, what I needed to do to get faster in my times, what I needed to do to move further along the track, was I needed to get a great running coach. So I went and hired one. Went and hired a guy who was a world-class triathlete champion and a great coach, and he taught me some skills and tools and drills that, to this day, 30 years later, I still use when I go for a run. And no surprise, because I got a great running coach, I got better at running. Like, seems pretty obvious to me.

Think about anything you want to get better at. I got a friend of mine who wanted to be a great dancer, wanted to get better at dancing. And so what did he do? Yeah. He got inspired by some movies, and thought he might be able to pick up a few ladies by being a better dancer, but what he did was he went out and got a world-class instructor. And he went to some lessons, and he paid for them, and he went week after week after week, and after not very long, he got so good at dancing, he actually became an instructor. But the way that he got better at dancing was by having a great instructor, and having someone teach him, and show him, and guide him along the way how to get better at that.

In anything in your life, if you want to get better at history, or philosophy, or science, or geography, or any of those things, what do you do? You go out and you get a world-class tutor, or a world-class professor, or a world-class teacher, and you have them help you get better at it. And I think about all the personal things in your life you want to get better at, and for our whole lives, from the time we’re in primary school and kindergarten and preschool, the time we’re in high school playing soccer and football and golf and tennis and netball and swimming, we have tutors and teachers and experts and mentors and role models around us for our whole life. And as you keep moving forward, the single best way to keep getting better is to have somebody who’s cleverer than you at that thing, or has got some experience with that thing, or even just has got an outside perspective. They can help you move forward.

Now, that’s your personal stuff. In my professional life, in my business life, in your professional life, in your business life, there’s probably some things you want to get better at. There’s probably some things that you want to move forward on. And one of those may or may not be a thing called understanding the joy and delight of technology. And whether that’s internet or Facebook or marketing or computers or cameras or whatever it is, you can fumble your way through technology. You could certainly go and ask YouTube and Google how to, and how to, and how to, but ultimately, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, the quickest, fastest, best way to get better at technology is to pay someone who’s an expert to come and teach you how to do it. Someone’s who learned stuff for 20 years, and they can teach you what they know in five minutes or two days or five weeks.

You got to get an expert, and they help you solve your technology problems. That just seems obvious to me. The alternative is to just keep bumbling along and working it out for yourself. That just seems so stupid to me. The other thing you might want to learn is you might want to get better at marketing. Now, in my business, in your business, you might want to get better at marketing. And again, you can do this thing called trial and error. It’s not very intelligent, and not very effective, but what you want to do is you want to go out and find somebody who’s either a consultant, or maybe you want to get some high-class education. Go to a seminar or so forth. Maybe you want to get an advisor, or get in touch with somebody who’s extremely incredible, whether that’s somebody who I’ve worked with and been in Gary’s videos, a guy called Gary Vaynerchuk, or whether it’s somebody else.

A good friend of mine, Jay Abraham, who’s the world’s leading expert on traditional marketing… But you want to go get a teacher or coach or consultant, an educator, to help you get better at marketing, and then go put it to work. In your business, you may want to get better at a thing called understanding the numbers. The numbers are important, whether that’s your monthly, your quarterly cash flows, your spreadsheets, your P&Ls, your balance sheets. All of those important things which most small to medium business owners are not excited about. But my good friend, Keith Cunningham, who is the rich dad from Rich Dad Poor Dad says “If you don’t understand the numbers, you got nothing”.

When you want to understand the numbers, again, you can fumble your way through understanding Xero. You can bumble your way through understanding how to use your accounting software or your spreadsheets and create your own reports. Or you can go get a planner, a financial planner, or a CFO, or join a board, or have someone come on to your board, or do something to get an external wizard, an external wise person, to come on board and show you the way, and give you some clarity, and help you see what you’re not able to see.

When I look at the patterns in these linkages from golf lessons to being better at golf, to having a running coach to getting better at running, to having a great dance instructor to getting better at dancing, to having a great tutor or teacher or professor to getting better at a particular subject, when I think about getting great experts to help with my technology, when I think about getting a consultant or education or access to world leaders to get better at marketing, when I think about getting some financial wisdom and advice to get better at my numbers, I think one simple thing, and I think this! Holy smokes! If I want to have a better life… If you’re watching this right now, and you say, “I want to have a better life. Right. Me too!” Or, “Yes, please!”

In the dialogue box, if you want a better life, I’m telling you right now, there is a pattern going on here, and that is, I’ll tell you what. If you want a better life, my very best coaching for you is this. Go get yourself an extraordinary coach. Go get a great coach, and have them support you, encourage you, push you, cajole you, hold you to high standards, help you see things that you’re not able to see. And I’m telling you, if you want a better life, having a great coach, a life coach… And I know that’s a phrase that is not often always understood or appreciated or respected, but having a great coach from a great team of coaches support you is absolutely the single best way I know to make everything in your life better.

Again, this is a strategy you’ve been using your whole life, from the time you’re in kindergarten to primary school to high school to an apprentice to your first business. It’s how you learned to drive, and how you learned to do almost everything in your life. So my coaching, my wish for you is this. If you want to get better at your life, go find yourself a great coach. Now, we can help you do that, and if you find somebody else, that’s awesome as well. But my wish for you is that you’re living your life very, very deliberately every single day. That’s my message today. If you loved this video, you know what to do. Until we get to meet you in person, this is Scott Harris, your ultimate coach saying live very deliberately, and bye for now.

One of my favourite, favourite times of year and no matter what your background, no matter what your heritage, no matter what your beliefs around what Easter is, I think universally we can agree that this time of the year is about new life, about new beginnings, about fresh starts.

Conveniently at this time of year we happen to be about one-quarter through the year (already)… and so I believe Easter is also a great time to check in, take a moment between family catch-ups, beach trips, BBQs and chocolate fun to reflect and take a moment to identify what’s been working for you so far in 2019?

Ask yourself:

  • What’s happened in the last three months of this year?
  • What’s worked?
  • What hasn’t worked?
  • And how can I now get back on track?

It’s also a great time to check in and go gosh if I could have a fresh start, if I can get a clean page to my calendar, if I did get a new beginning on something, what would it be?

Whatever it is for you here’s my wish. Myself, my coaches, my team here at Ultimate Coach – we’re so committed to you getting exactly what it is you want and my offer to you is if there’s any way that we can help you please just reach out! Either with a question here or a comment here on this page, or a direct message to myself, one of my team, or one of my coaches.

We’d love to support you at this very special time of the year where it’s about new life, new beginnings, fresh starts, and getting stuff done. So whatever Easter means for you, I wish you a spectacular Easter.

Live very deliberately,

Start Your New Beginning Here

For a limited time, I’m offering you a complimentary and confidential conversation with one of my personally trained team (valued at $297), to support you toward your new beginning and identify the next steps to make your dreams and goals become your reality, in a quicker and more enjoyable way.

Hey hey hey guys Scott Harris the founder of Ultimate Coach and Ultimate Expert stopping by to remind you that we’re just about at Easter – I know!

One of my favourite, favourite times of year and no matter what your background, no matter what your heritage, no matter what your beliefs around what Easter is or where it comes from – there’s the great Christian story about rising up and the incredible things that happened around that time of year, there’s the pagan history of Easter looking at great festivals for new harvests and new beginnings, there is the commercialism of gee what a great time to sell some new product. I think universally we can agree that this time of the year is about new life, about new beginnings, about fresh starts.

Now conveniently right now this year we happen to be about one-quarter through the year so it’s a great time to check in and see gosh what’s been working? What’s happened in the last three months of this year what’s worked? What hasn’t worked? And how can I now get back on track? It’s also a great time to check in and go gosh if I could have a fresh start, if I can get a clean page to my calendar, if I get a new beginning on something, what would it be?

Would I focus more on my family? Would I focus more on my travel, adventure? Would I focus more on my business, would I just focus more on getting stuff done?

Whatever it is for you here’s my wish, here’s my offering for you if you will. Disconnect To Reconnect

In this fast-paced day and age, you don’t need to look very far to notice that as a society, we have a dependence and addiction to our devices and to technology. It is a concern of mine, and something I’ve personally been conscious of for some time, despite the wonders and benefits of this technological revolution we’re living in, there are so many negative side affects that come with that too.

We’re creating a generation of future adults who do not know or remember a different time, a time where people actually lived in the present moment giving others our undivided attention, where we would stop and say hello to friends and neighbours in passing on the street, and if you wanted to communicate to someone, you’d drop in to their home or workplace for a cuppa and a chat.

I want to call it what it is – technology is an addiction. With each comment, like, emoji or DM, social media is delivering to our brains a hit of dopamine that makes each and everyone of us feel good in that moment, however the long term affects of this short term, feel good fix is becoming more and more apparent through the prevalence of depression and mental illness. The technology that’s meant to make us feel connected, has in reality had the opposite affect, with loneliness being at an all time high.

Today I’d like to ask you to be more conscious, ask yourself “what am I missing out on?”… by not truly being engaged in the present and aware of what is going on around me?… by using the iPad to keep the kids busy instead of having them play with real toys, read books, climb a tree and interact with one another?… by sending a DM, a snap-chat, a WhatsApp to a friend or family member instead of picking up the phone, or better yet catching up with them in person?

And whilst we all know technology definitely has a role to play in this day and age, in business and in everyday interactions, we all need to develop an awareness of when it is, and when it is not the appropriate method to connect with one another.

Here are 7 tips to help you to Disconnect from technology and Reconnect with what matters

  1. Schedule Digital Time

In 2018 people spent an average of 3 hours 35 minutes on a mobile device every day, and an average of 11 hours per day looking at a screen (including computer and TV)∗. That’s more time than you spend sleeping! It’s a big chunk of the day. Fair enough if your job involves screen time, but for those times you’re away from the office or from work, you need to consciously disconnect from technology and reconnect with your loved ones, invest in your relationships and the things that really matter to you.

Consciously schedule time to connect with your family, take the dog for a walk, help your kids with their homework, prepare the evening meal together, read a real book with pages you turn before bedtime with your children, or with yourself. How many people wake up of a morning and the first thing they do is look at their phone? Create for yourself a morning ritual that does not include phone time. Wake up and do some stretches, meditate, workout, interact with your loved ones as your prepare breakfast and pack lunches.

  1. Adjust your phone settings

Device manufacturers know that the amount of screen time is an issue in society, as these days there are several features available to you within your smart phone to support time away from the screen – so make sure you invest a few minutes in ensuring they’re set up right in your phone as these can make a real difference to the apparent urgency that phones tend to create by interrupting the flow of life. To name a few these include:

Notifications – Apps want you to engage with their app and often when installing apps you’re asked to Allow Notifications from this app. As a rule, always say No or Don’t Allow. For apps already installed in your device, got to your Settings, Notifications and adjust the settings for each of the apps on your device. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how many random notifications you no longer receive once set up right! And the world will go on without them, when you choose to catch up on that app, you can consciously open the app you want and engage with it, at that moment.

Do Not Disturb – Within the Settings of your phone you should be able to schedule regular Do Not Disturb times. E.g. From 9pm until 7:30pm your phone will be in this mode, which will silence phone calls and notifications. You’ll still be able to check your phone for these notifications should you choose, but your time won’t be governed by the external influence of your device, and you won’t be interrupted by a 3am text from someone overseas.

Blue light – Overexposure to Artificial / blue light suppresses the excretion of melatonin in the body, which in turn affects your internal body clock and the ability to have a good nights sleep. If you’re using your device after dark, enabling Night Shift in your device settings is a great idea to support better sleep. In iPhone settings you can enable Night Shift (Settings, Display & Brightness) which delivers warmer colour tones on screen from sunset to sunrise, and is also customisable to suit individual requirements. It’s likely this can be enable in other brands of devices or additionally you can source apps to do similar on devices, as well as on laptops and computers. Better yet, you should stop using any device 2 hours prior to your bedtime as this will assist in getting your body ready for sleep.

  1. Leave your device elsewhere

To support time away from your device and technology a great way to do this is to consciously leave your device away from arm’s reach or earshot, or even turn it off completely and put it in a drawer. Why don’t you create the ritual of charging your devices in a side room like your study, away from the kitchen, lounge room or common areas where people can socialise in your household? In my house we have set zones where technology use is allowed.

  1. Discipline

With anything in life, consistency is key and I am certain if you apply the discipline of sticking to a schedule to reduce the use of technology, you’ll create the space to nurture what’s really important in life and that is creating great relationships with the people who you love and who matter to you. With discipline and time, limiting your technology use will become easier.

  1. Be present

How many times have you caught up with a friend over coffee or been at a family dinner, and noticed people continuously checking their phone or even texting as you’re having a conversation with them. If you’re on the receiving end of this behaviour – how did that make you feel? Did you feel unimportant, unheard or did you think it was down right rude? For me, this is a big no, no. If someone has taken the time to meet with me, or come to dinner, then I believe it should be a common courtesy to leave your phone off the table, in your bag or pocket, or don’t bring it at all. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, and if that’s the case for you and there is an important update about a deadline or perhaps an unexpected problem has occurred, fair enough, but please take a moment to briefly explain the need for technology to interrupt the catch-up, dinner or meeting, as a mark of respect to the other party/s.

  1. Invite people along

It seems to me that so many people have become obsessed with portraying a fake reality through the filter of social media. They may be posting their after work-out glow, or perfect holiday snap, which in turn triggers the engagement of likes and comments and delivers that quick fix of dopamine, but in reality their life may be far from the picture perfect scene they set. Rather than obsessing over followers and the best insta filter to use, why don’t you plan a fun activity or adventure and invite your friends along to join in on the fun, in real life?

  1. Be okay in your own company

Some people who are internally referenced may have no problem here, but for those of us who are more externally referenced, meaning you have a tendency to feel good, or bad, about yourself based on receiving validation, praise or feedback from others… take note; Social media can be your best friend, or worst enemy. To combat this desire for validation through technology, I believe you need to consciously work toward being okay in your own company and developing your internal compass to guide you in knowing within yourself that you are good enough, that you do matter and that you are loved. As I said, this will come easier for some than others, and some suggestions you could implement to work on this self belief may come from meditation, self development, even through having your own coach… and a good coach will always have your best interests at heart and be your biggest cheerleader in life!

My wish for everyone is that they take consistent action toward a fulfilling and happy life by living a conscious and deliberate life, and I hope that by bringing these sometimes obvious points to the surface will support you in your journey.

Live deliberately,
